Welcome to the cognitix Threat Defender Manual

cognitix Threat Defender (or Threat Defender for short) is a network security platform that operates inside the network perimeter. It micro-segments the network structure and monitors the network traffic. This network-specific data is enhanced with up-to-date information on threats from numerous external sources. Based on the detected behavior of network assets and users, Threat Defender enforces the policy dynamically. This allows for very fast reactions to threats.

This manual contains the following chapters:

  • The Introduction provides information on how to use this manual and highlights the changes in the current release.

  • Installation and Setup explains how to install and set up Threat Defender.

  • Monitor the Network shows how to analyze the network traffic and assets; as well as how to use the reporting.

  • Secure the Network explains how the policy engine of Threat Defender works and how to use it to secure the network. It also explains how Threat Defender can detect threats and counteract them.

  • Segment the Network shows how to segment the network with Threat Defender.

  • The Interface Reference section describes the individual screens of the user interface and their elements.

  • The Appendix contains supplementary documentation.
